I can’t get over it: the fact that one has to pay to go to a Pride event is just shamefully classist. Let’s imagine for a moment how a poor and/or homeless queer person could feel when they see one of their few precious free spaces is unavailable for them, just because they don’t have the money to get in.
This is not Pride. It’s a poor excuse for shallow, urban hedonism. Which I don’t condemn. But let’s just not pretend eating funnel cakes and collecting free merch has anything to do with fighting for human rights.
